Recently, our solicitor Dan had the pleasure of meeting with members of the Kendall CWA branch and the local community to discuss legal issues that can arise following floods and bushfires, how to spot scams, understand your rights, and recognise when a legal issue may need support.
The session sparked great discussion, with attendees sharing their experiences and asking thoughtful questions over morning tea. Thank you to everyone who came along and made us feel so welcome.
A special thank you for the thoughtful gift of local honey and a beautiful card – it was greatly appreciated. 🍯💙

🤔 What exactly is a Community Legal Centre?
You may have heard of Community Legal Centres (CLC), but what are they?
️💙 A CLC is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that provides legal assistance to people in the community, particularly those who may face barriers to accessing the legal system.
Community Legal Centres aim to improve access to justice by offering free legal services, community legal education, and advocating for fairer laws and policies based on the issues they see affecting their communities.

Disaster amnesia is real!![]()
For four years, Commonwealth disaster legal assistance funding helped Mid North Coast Legal Centre build specialist expertise, trusted community partnerships and support pathways for people affected by floods, bushfires and storms.![]()
We've seen first-hand that disaster recovery doesn't end when the recovery centre closes. Legal problems often emerge months or years later, and communities need ongoing support to navigate them.![]()
That's why it's disappointing to see this funding end just as these networks, relationships and services have become deeply embedded and effective.![]()
As climate change increases the frequency and severity of disasters, now is the time to strengthen community resilience, not wind back the services that help communities rNSW Council of Social Service - NCOSScial Service - NCOSS call for sustained investment in disaster preparedness and recovery capability. Communities should not have to wait for the next disaster before governments remember the value of funding them.![]()

At Mid North Coast Legal Centre, we're proud to support young people by providing free legal advice, information and education—helping them understand their rights and make informed decisions. ![]()
